The Last Wish is in fact a prequel to the main Witcher novel – Blood of Elves. The Witcher 3 will be the final part of a story that began in The Witcher 1, but The Witcher series as a whole will live on. I've just finished reading The Last Wish, so will get on with some original Witcher in the mean time. Just last year, the first of these Witcher books—a short story collection titled “The Last Wish”—was translated into English and released by Gollancz for UK readers. However With short stories, which was all in all quite an interesting way to introduce a character, there was little by the means of world building. Console versions are planned but the details… Conversations, incidentally, can include multiple people and introduce new speakers part-way through. Also, anything by Andrzej Sapkowski, which right now, in English, seems to be only "Introduction to the Witcher: The Last Wish". Not so surprisingly therefore, it branches off from the sequential job-after-job format of The Last Wish, and tries to bring us a broader perspective than the 'it's all in a day's work for a Witcher' feel of the predecessor. Responses will be timed, and resort to a default answer . Now thanks to Orbit Books, American readers can finally discover for themselves what all the hype is about Overall, “The Witcher” is a memorable introduction to Geralt, his profession, and the world he inhabits. If you've never read Sapkowski's The Last Wish, do yourself a favor and go out and find a copy. Polish developer and publisher CD Projekt plans to release The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for PC in Q1 2011.
